Milan Houser – TAXIDERMY

Houser explores the material nature of painting with such intensity that his process can be likened to taxidermy. At Artium, he presented hanging installations with rounded edges, works without frames, and pieces that emphasized spatiality.
In this body of work, he expanded his material techniques by incorporating metal alloys and organic pigments, further developing his distinctive method of pouring colour onto the surface. The result was a series of striking, sculptural forms—artistic "specimens" with their own authentic shapes, featuring stalactite-like extensions that emphasized their three-dimensionality.
“These are objects that exist on the boundary between painting and sculpture. They began as paintings, but broke free from the frame and the wall to become spatial objects,” the artist explained. „Můj obraz je něco, co má hmotu, tíhu, strukturu, co je 3D a co nějakým způsobem vzniká,“ dodal Houser.
