Dvořák Prague Festival at Bořislavka 2024

The early evening hour-long concerts have found a firm footing at Artium. These concerts, which again this year celebrate young talent, make no compromises in quality, while offering refined entertainment in a relaxed setting.
10 September 2024 – Sakura Toba & Naoko Sonoda
Japanese bunraku puppet theatre requires three people to operate each puppet: a handler, a narrator, and a singer. Music inspired by this colourful and entertaining spectacle is a perfect fit for the first afternoon concert at Bořislavka Centre. The informal event also suits Schumann’s Fantasiestücke, and even allows space for the seriousness of Brahms’ Sonata. Japanese cellist Sakura Toba, a protégé and student of one of today’s leading cello pedagogues, Jens Peter Maintz, and her pianist compatriot will demonstrate that the old stereotypes of East and West in interpretation no longer hold true.
12 September 2024 – Talent Stage of the Concertino Praga Competition
Youthful energy and an informal afternoon concert are a perfect match. A performance by talented participants of the Concertino Praga competition is another in the series of early evening gatherings at Bořislavka, once again offering clear proof that top-tier artistic competitions produce no losers.
17 September 2024 – S. Yakimov, J. Skalka, D. Stefanov
It’s often said that top-level music is like elite sport – and at least in terms of increasing performance, that’s certainly true. Today’s upcoming generation of teenagers is already playing repertoire once reserved for the great pianists of the 20th century. That’s why Chopin, Rachmaninov, and Bach will resound at Bořislavka Centre in the energetic interpretations of three pianists who have yet to turn twenty.
19 September 2024 – David Mareček & Lukáš Mareček
In 2023, the concert series at Bořislavka presented father and son Adam and Ivan Klánský, representing one of many musical dynasties in the Czech Republic. The Klánský family includes father Ivan and children Adam, Vladimír, Daniel, and Klára – just the immediate circle! A similar story can be seen with violist Jan Pěruška’s family. This year featureD another father–son pairing: cellist Lukáš Mareček and his father David, a pianist.
